The Fantasy Truth

So now you want to know The Truth about whom you should take this week at Watkins Glen.  Now normally I’d tell you to use the stats provided for you on this site, but I’ll be nice and narrow things down for you.  Even though this track is more “stock car friendly” than Infineon, the ringers have a tendency to perform better at Watkins Glen.

The Musts

  1. Tony Stewart (24.6) — You have to like a guy that has won a race at a track after he had shit his pants.  Has won 2 in a row here and 3 of the last 5.
  2. Mark Martin (23.9) — This guy can road race.  4 consecutive top 10’s here.
  3. Kevin Harvick (22.9) — Riding a wave of 4 consecutive top 5’s and 6 top 10’s in the last 7.  Has never missed the top 15 here.
  4. Jimmie Johnson (25.5) — 10 top 10’s in his last 11 including one at Infineon and has 17 top 10’s this season in 21 races.  Was 5th her last year.

Good Bets

  1. Scott Pruett (17.4) — Steps into a vastly improved #40 this week and is guaranteed a starting spot.  He just misses The Musts because qualifying likes to get rained out here and would start 35th if that is the case.  Otherwise he’s a sure bet as he’ll wind up top 10 if qualifying goes off.
  2. Robby Gordon (15.3) — Another nice pick this week.  He likes to abuse his equipment, though, so he is risky.
  3. Boris Said (14.2) — Had a great run at Infineon followed up by a great run at Daytona with a brand new team.  I would like him better if he was running the Hendrick stuff he used to.
  4. Ron Fellows (16.3) — Wind up the ringers with him.  Almost won from last starting position in the #1 in 2004, but outside of that has sucked.  Let the suckers take him, especially since he will be running that garbage #32.

Sleepers

  1. Ryan Newman (20.9) — Quietly becoming one of the best road racers on the circuit.  Has never missed the top 15 at Infineon, but has missed the top 25 in half of his trips here.  Plus he is fat and slow.
  2. Terry Labonte (13.1) — Great pit call and gas mileage at Infineon netted him a 3rd at Infineon.  Has stunk up Watkins Glen as of late, though.
  3. Kyle Busch (21.9) — Not a name that pops into your head for a road race, but there is no driver hotter than him right now.  Doesn’t hurt that he was 11th at Infineon either.
  4. Brian Vickers (19.8) — Has been a top 12 car since he announced he was leaving Hendrick.

Douches

  1. Junior (20.7) — Has three straight top 10’s here, but this team is sucking hind titty right now.  Avoid him like the plague!
  2. Elliott Sadler (18.5) — And his buddy Dale Jarrett too.  Three straight top 15’s here and an 8th at Infineon shouldn’t sway you.  Yates blows!
  3. Bill Elliott (13.6) — This was originally Jeremy Mayfield even with 4 of the last 5 in the top 15, but Ray Evernham is chasing tail and his team reeks of ass.
  4. Jeff Burton (22.4) — Indy disappointment will ruin this weekend.

So now you want to know whom I would run?  Here The Truth—

Tony Stewart (24.6)

Kevin Harvick (22.9)

Denny Hamlin (20.7)

Scott Pruett (17.4)

Boris Said (14.2)

Can’t handle it?  Tough shit, it’s THE TRUTH!!!!
